VLANs VLANs everywhere, but not a route in sight

I would love to get very nerdy with my home network. I bought a used Ruckus switch earlier this year and was able to load the router config on it giving me access to 25 1gb PoE ports and 8 10gb SFP+ ports. I’ve left it in this state for a while, but now I want to start setting up separate vlans for general use, home lab, and home lab management.

Going down the rabbit hole, I’ve found out that my Nest Wifi isn’t the best for multi vlan networks. D’oh!

Right now my fios connection going from the FON -> Nest Wifi -> Ruckus switch. So the Nest is the gate keeper. I need my Ruckus to become the gatekeeper so I can have more control over my network. Multiple VLANs are just a first step. I would like to use PiHole to block ads on the home network too. But I need to make all of these changes while keeping the home network accessible to my wife. And myself. I do work from home so having a home network that’s inaccessible is not an option.

Time to do much more research and testing.
